about our staff
Our staff are highly-skilled, deeply-devoted Christian women who are passionate about youth ministry and serious about growing in their walk with Christ. We believe the best, most effective way to witness and disciple young women is through our day-in and day-out lives. We are seeking disciplined, kind-hearted, tender, courageous, Christ-like women. If that describes you, even in part, we hope that you will apply!
We have a staff of college-age (and older) women who go through a thorough application and interview process before being hired. We do our utmost to ensure our staff are not only excellently qualified and skilled, but are also deeply committed to the Lord and to ministering to 9-17 year old girls with His love.
Once hired, staff members undergo a three-week training period on-site. During that training, staff receive their Wilderness First Aid training certification and Life Guarding certification as needed. In addition, staff are trained on our area hiking trails, taken through all aspects of being a camp counselor, including a series of intense and extensive "rehearsals" created to determine their strengths and weaknesses, prior to camper arrivals.
Who are we looking for?
A woman of faith, who is in agreement with the basic biblical principles of ministry. A woman who has surrendered her life to Christ and seeks to please Him above all else. A woman with a disciplined lifestyle, who follows Christ daily and has a lifestyle of serving others. And a woman of integrity, who does not tolerate gossip, does not lie, and does not cave into peer pressure.

positions
*These positions are often combined with other positions.
I wanted to take a minute to send you an email to brag on some of your past staff and say thank you for all the work you put in through the year.
My husband and I are blessed with a confident girl who is now in 6th grade. While many of her friends are "boy crazy" and looking for their identity in boys, she has been firm that she has years before she needs to worry about that. My husband asked her why she feels that way and she said that all her counselors at Tap have instilled that in her. She has a longer term perspective that we see in other areas as well. I am reminded of Proverbs 29:18- “Where there is no vision, people cast off restraint.” Our daughter has been given incredible vision at Tap through the lives of her counselors. Since her first year at Tap, she has had counselors follow up with her. One of them met us in Charleston for a day in 2017 to spend with our daughter and has texted her throughout the years. Another counselor keeps up with her often, and yet another now lives about 20 minutes from us and asked if she could meet up on a regular basis to go through a study with her.
These women (and others) have made a tremendous difference to my daughter! They have showed her the love of Christ and she wants to be just like them--and it all has to do with Jesus. Thank you for your work to hire amazingly intentional staff and lead them so well! My husband and I are so grateful for Tapawingo.
